Sliema Foods is bringing Maltese delicacies to South Australia!
Hello, my name is Carol Brown (nee Mercieca) and I am a first generation Maltese. I am very passionate about all things Maltese, the food, culture and history are all very close to my heart.
I am bringing a little bit of Malta and other European delicacies to Adelaide.
I was born in Sydney to Maltese parents and have lived in South Australia since 1982. I am constantly frustrated at not being able to buy Gbienjet (cheeses, both plain and pepper), Zalzett (sausage), Kunzerva (tomato paste), Pastizzi (pastries filled with ricotta etc), Kinnie (soft drink), etc and the list continues. My grandparents and the family migrated to Australia in 1956 and taught me so much about the importance of food in our culture. I have fond memories of my grandmother always at the stove cooking for her 7 children and grandchildren.
So, I have taken matters into my own hands and am now making these foods available to the public in good old Adelaide. I love meeting new people and Sliema Foods is really bringing out all the Maltese in our community.
I use Maltese suppliers from Sydney so now we don't have to miss out. I only use the best suppliers. Taste and the use of quality ingredients is paramount.
